"The Jessica Numbers" + "Burning Paper" + "Brand - New - Life"

Another tremendous track off Twin Cinema (2005) by the New Pornographers is "The Jessica Numbers":

Why I don't always keep this album on my iPod, I do not know. I think I overplayed it when it first came out. But I am always surprised when I pick it back up.

"The Jessica Numbers" was a good cut to begin the evening's run. The run ended with "Burning Paper" off the underappreciated Dare to Be Surprised (1997) by The Folk Implosion:

During the noon lunch hour I drifted off to sleep in the darkened file room sensory deprivation tank listening to "Brand - New - Life" off Colossal Youth (1980) by Young Marble Giants. An amazing experience:

My buddy Oliver lent me this album to listen to in the summer of 1983. I'll never forget it. It sounded so pure and deep.

"Blue Line Swinger"

Sleeping on the floor today at lunch in the darkened file room on an empty first floor I listened to Yo La Tengo's superb "Blue Line Swinger," the last track off Electr-O-Pura (1995):

Sleeping in a dark, quiet file room might be an adequate substitute for sitting on a park bench facing south.
