Julie Doiron's Désormais

The last couple of months I've been enjoying records by Julie Doiron. Lately, the album that has captivated me is her 2001 release Désormais. All ten songs are in French with the exception of one.

The track "Le Piano" is a good example of the narcotic power Doiron marshals on this record:


It is reminiscent of early Cat Power, but minus the sharp jaggedness of those records. I'm thinking here of Myra Lee (1996) and What Would the Community Think (1996).
