Patsy Walker, A.K.A. Hellcat! #1

Patsy Walker goes all the way back to Marvel precursor Timely Comics and the World War Two era. In the mid-70s she went superhero with the Hellcat alter ego (appropriating another superheroine's costume and identity).

In Patsy Walker, A.K.A. Hellcat! #1 Kate Leth and Brittany Williams create a spontaneous amalgamation of the romance and superhero genre set in present day swinging Brooklyn. The comic book has a grounded feel to it since Patsy struggles with unemployment and homelessness.

Marvel Comics is in the midst of a feminist revolution. Female characters, female themes are coming to the fore and rising to the top like never before. This is a positive manifestation in the Western world: The ascent of Woman, proof that all is not moribund beneath the octopus of neoliberalism. When I post on comics in the coming weeks I am going to maintain this focus on the feminine cultural revolution underway in the collective consciousness.
