New Blood

I checked out Peter Gabriel's New Blood (2011) from the library this past Friday and I've listened to it all the way through several times now. I've got to say it's dynamite. Orchestral re-workings of stuff from his 1980's albums has a lot of pathos for me. I listened to the first four Gabriel albums a lot in high school and early college. Innocent youth. I had yet to succumb to confusion of man-woman ego/sexuality/identity wars. Listening to songs like "San Jacinto," "Red Rain," "The Rhythm of the Heat," "In Your Eyes" slammed out by a full orchestra makes me think that maybe in the last several years of burdened bachelorhood I have returned to the purity of my young-man youth.
